About the Author
Irina Tweedie was born in Russia in 1907. With a background in Theosophy, she travelled to India where she met a Sufi Master. After his death in 1966, she returned to England and brought his teachings to the West. She passed away in London in 1999, and her work is being continued through The Golden Sufi Center in California.

Ce livre présente la vie et l'oeuvre de Lilian Silburn (1908-1993), une des plus grandes indianistes françaises, spécialiste du shivaïsme du Cachemire, du tantrisme et du bouddhisme. Philosophe de formation, directeur de recherches au CNRS, Lilian Silburn s'est très tôt tournée vers les philosophies orientales. Elle fut une des premières à faire connaître en Occident les écrits des philosophes mystiques cachemiriens. Vaughan-Lee's book is a contribution to the expanding (and already extensive) body of works synthesizing Sufism with Jungian psychology. It has the virtue of a straightforward and accessible introduction to Sufism as a practice of Islam. Its syncretic approach is consistent with Sufi and Jungian traditions and will no doubt prove appealing to a large audience of eclectic seekers after spiritual fulfillment.
